Coline – Cabled Hat Pattern

Coline is a soft, slouchy hat designed to add an elegant, cosy touch to chilly days.

Its large cable panel on the front is framed by seed stitch, creating a lovely contrast of textures while keeping the hat easy to wear every day.

The twisted rib brim gives a neat, stretchy finish, while the slightly slouchy shape gently hugs the head.

The design combines cables, seed stitch and twisted rib. It’s especially suited to knitters who already know the basics and would like to make a project with beautiful textures.

Sizes

The pattern comes in three sizes:

• S: 56–57 cm (22–22½") head circumference
• M: 58–61 cm (22¾–24") head circumference
• L: 62–64 cm (24½–25¼") head circumference

Construction

Coline is knitted in the round, from the bottom up.

It can also be knitted flat and seamed, if you prefer that method.

Yarn

The sample shown was knitted in Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino.

You’ll need between 66 and 80 g of yarn, about 60 to 73 m (66 to 80 yds), depending on the size.

You can also use another yarn that gives you the same gauge.

Gauge

21 sts × 28 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4") in seed stitch on 4.5 mm (US 7) needles, after blocking.
